Exploring some real paint again.

Exploring some real paint again.

I have the terrible affliction of not being able to resist a good pun, or a bad pun. (I’m not sure there actually are any good puns….) So when I needed a pincushion, I didn’t go out like a sensible person and buy one, nor did I make a cute, easy little strawberry or pumpkin, no! I couldn’t get ‘Arthur Pindragon’ out of my head, so I spent several hours cracking myself up, sewing this little guy. At least someone had fun.

This year I created an installation art piece (last year was press photography). The installation was my biggest hole-stone tree yet! I found a perfect live oak with branches just the right height and secret hollows in the trunk. Three of the hole-stones had pockets big enough to fit LEDs, as did the trunk hollows. It turned out spectacular – mysterious, serene hanging stones and subtle fairy lights. Though it was too windy for me to get any good shots of the glowing stones at night.
And the rest of Art Outside was amazing as well. I must say my favorite bit was Maestro (Austin local!) and NicoLuminious on the open mic sometime around 3am Friday doing beatbox/live production acapella dubstep. I think they may have just created a genre.
And we finally got rain! After months and months of drought, the rain chose this one weekend. The sentiment was something along the lines of ‘we can’t really be pissed because rain is great, but why this weekend?’ My tent flooded.
Now I’m wondering what I’ll do next year? Perhaps impossible, but I can’t stop thinking about POV poi…

This year I’m doing an installation piece! Above is a sneak peak of what you might find. And probably press photography as well. Here’s a link to my AO bio.
